Manufacture of Small and Medium Motors

SANDMARK has recently supplied a family of motors used in laboratory equipment. These motors have particular requirements to operate with minimal noise and vibration. In addition, the design incorporates thrust construction allowing the operation of these motors in any position.

The motors are designed to operate in 3 voltages: 100 VAC, 120 VAC, and 230 VAC.

Make or buy considerations for manufacturing of products, components, and turnkey systems may not always be straightforward. Some reasons to consider SANDMARK as a supplier for your sub-assemblies and assemblies can be:

Space and Personnel – Can a particular area and its employees be better utilized in another area of the plant.

Design of Innovative Solar Panel Mounting Systems

SANDMARK has successfully completed a project in which our team was participated in the design, analysis and prototyping of innovative mounting systems and structural members for solar panels and arrays.

The primary design goals for this project were that the mounting systems be highly condusive to automated installation and optimized for large scale manufacturing.

Supply of Automotive Pulleys for OEM Customer

SANDMARK has successfully qualified and is now manufacturing production quantities of pulleys for an OEM customer. The material used for this family of pulleys is cast steel. Blanks are first cast using shell-mold sand casting process, which provides considerably higher quality than a standard green sand casting process with the type of surface finish and material strength that the application requires. The blanks are then machined to specifications. After machining, each pulley is dynamically balanced to meet the performance requirements at their rated rotational speeds.

These pulleys are used in automotive applications and each pulley is expected to have zero defects, low imbalance, and very long operational life in demanding environments, operating 24/7 for extended periods of time. As such, the products undergo vigorous quality inspection and testing procedures before they are shipped to our Customer.

SANDMARK/SIGMA OEM Exhibits at Design/Manufacturing Show 2016

SANDMARK Global, part of SIGMA OEM was an exhibitor this year at the 2016 Design and Manufacturing Show in New York City. This show was co-hosted by MDM East, Pack East, Quality Expo, Automation Technology East, and Plastec East.

About 900 total suppliers exhibited, and the show attracted about 20,000 attendees.  As is typical of the Northeast Industrial profile, attendees represented Biotech, Pharmaceutical, automation, laboratory and testing equipment, and high tech manufacturing industries.

A major presence in the show were 3D printing companies. As advances are being made in materials and technology, 3D printing is poised to revolutionize small batch production small to medium sized precision parts. This will have implications across the manufacturing landscape, from design/development, country competitiveness, and manufacturing supply chain. Both manufacturers and OEM suppliers will need to examine the impact of 3D printing as it becomes more mainstream.

The show gave us insight into the types of offerings we need to offer to US Industrial Customers as a OEM Service Provider. In order to grow our OEM business successfully, we need to be in a position to offer what our customers require. American manufacturing has evolved over the past two decades away from low-technology, high volume, and ‘commodity’ manufacturing. To be a successful manufacturer in the US today, only those who produce complex and innovative products that require cutting edge process technologies incorporating new materials will thrive. Pharmaceutical hardware, aerospace, and high tech equipment are examples of industries where the US continues to retain manufacturing advantages. SANDMARK, as part of SIGMA OEM, continues to enhance our offerings to support and service these exciting industries.
